While for some having a snake could be interesting, it may not be compatible for everyone. All kinds of snakes require exclusive care and handling needs. There are several species of snakes that can be kept as pets, depending on where in the world you are located. Some snakes are just a few inches long whilst others are 10 or more feet in length.

The varieties vary from the common garter snake to huge pythons. Another most important thing to consider is different species requires different types of diet. Regardless of which snake you buy, a safe anti-escape enclosure is certainly necessary. By nature, snakes are persistent enough to get out of enclosure.

If you are a first time snake buyer, corn snakes are excellent to have as pet. They are less dangerous when compared to others like Burmese pythons, red-tailed boas, python, water snakes or any wild caught snakes. Corn snakes are friendly when introduced to people, as they are of a relatively gentle temperament.

They range from a newly emerged infant to four to five feet for a full-grown adult. Meeting their diet and ecological needs is not as tricky as for some other species. Snake food is not complicated and could be easily obtainable in a pet shop or bred by you in the case of mice. However, do not try to feed them vegetation as no snake enjoys vegetation.

Snakes are a lot of fun to keep once you know the basics.
